More Signal, Less Noise at #socialmedia

Leveraging what you have learned over the last decade and then completely turning that knowledge inside out and changing that mindset at the blink of an eye is what we all are challenged with right now.  N00bs and seasoned vets alike, are all wrestling with the subtle nuances of social media and possibly, the business of social media. Thus, we decided to do something about it.

So we created… hashtagsocialmedia.com

It’s simple really. The goal of #socialmedia.com  is to continually move the social media industry and the discussion, forward for businesses. How? By bringing together on Twitter and this blog, all the great minds in the industry, and to provide a destination to share and learn; challenge and grow.

An open forum, once a week, one hour, on Twitter and on this site!

What we don’t want:

  • - Re-hashing the same old social media stuff
  • - The echo
  • - Backslapping

What we do want:

  • - Great ideas and concepts
  • - A place for these ideas to bubble up, to breathe and grow
  • - Relationships and possibilities

We want to hear from all of you who have something to contribute – from practitioners to executives, from vendors to analysts. We all have a stake in the game here, so let’s start working together to make sure this industry continues to stride forward.

Upcoming Event

The first “UnPanel” on The Future of Social Media is Tuesday March 31st at 12 pm EST on Twitter.

Agenda

Social Media is moving, but where?  How can we steer it better for business?

Sometimes to make sense of where it is, we should look at where it’s going and where it has been. This session is designed to test the limits of where you thought social media fit and the potential of what it brings.

For the sake of argument, let’s say that Social Media is loosely made up of People, Interactions & Technology.

Q1:  Where are the deficiencies in business around People, Interactions & Technology? In other words, where does social media make sense in a business setting when addressing those deficiencies?

Q2:  Play the “What if” game.  Addressing the above deficiencies, remove all barriers and let the imagination roll.  (For example, what if CRM systems were filled up by buyers not salespeople) Use the “In a perfect world” scenario when plugging in a social media solution. What does that world look like?

Q3:  Combine the identified needs in business with the “imagine if” comments and let’s create a high-level road map

So join us on Tuesday March 31st, at 12pm EST as Beth Harte leads the UnPanel on the Future of Social Media in Business.
