Lots of great chat, but changing gears to Q2) How do devices like iPad and iPhone influence news consumption? #sm66
True. RT : large outlets can set up dedicated crowd-sourced news such as cnn ireport to help journos cover breaking news #sm66
RT : #sm66 Re: journalists showing pol. bias by who they follow - We have a policy (Sect. F --> http://bit.ly/cFzqO8
RT : Depends on how journos use Facebook = if they have a pro account then thats fine to friend but it cant be personal #sm66
Yes, but arguably LinkedIn & FB are used very differently. Not likely to post political leanings, pics, etc. on LinkedIn. #sm66
RT : Disclosure is the key. Look at what does on his Facebook. "I connect with many, but that's no endorsement" #sm66
I'm not a journo, but I find that Twitter has helped serve as news curator and allow me to listen much quicker than before. #sm66
Lots of focus on Twitter, but what about journos potentially "friending" sources on Facebook? Is this OK? #sm66
What about social media monitoring services such as Radian6 and others? Can't these help w/listening? #sm66
RT : Really, the listening tools aren't there yet. What scales for local news doesn't scale for global names. #sm66
At USA TODAY, we treat soc med no differently than other platforms. Tweets, FB posts must be fact-checked. #sm66
Interesting perspective. With social media, one could make the point that assumed bias is more accessible & public. #sm66
A few folks noting collaboration with audience in story development. Will journos start crowdsourcing story development? #sm66
I'm not a journalist...I'm on the business side. ; ) #sm66
RT : the easiest would be for sources and fact checking- i.e. collaboration with citizen journos... #sm66
Do journos need to think about potential bias on FB/Twitter? E.g., neutral reporter, but only engaging w/Dems or GOP on soc med? #sm66
Now that is some fantastic multi-tasking! ; ) #sm66
