Today's communicator needs to be adaptable and more well-rounded than ever. #socialmedia
@chuckhemann What'd I miss on the #socialmedia discussion? I just got out of meetings... Will check out some of the posts.
Thnx @dannybrown @Marc_Meyer @jasonbreed @amandagbeals @concierge @wordymouth @wvpmc @dpkpr @chuckhemann. Much to think about! #socialmedia
@concierge In a fragmented or piecemeal communications landscape, how to keep msg consistent? Crowdsource your crisis response. #socialmedia
Yes! RT @dannybrown:...wrapping up-we're saying u need a crisis comms. plan; int. and ext. sources, and existing goodwill? #socialmedia
@amandagbeals Risk management or 'issues mngt' is a more proactive way to approach crisis comms--which, yes, sounds reactive. #socialmedia
@amandagbeals @concierge Frightening to imagine how many 'communicators' co's now have? Employees' FB profiles, Twitter feeds. #socialmedia
@MikeLizun Book sounds interesting. But can't depend on leader if leader is crap? #socialmedia
@Marc_Meyer I wrote a blog post last week - 'Does your Crisis Plan need a Web 2.0 Upgrade!' Same thought! #socialmedia http://bit.ly/BSygA
@AmandaGBeals It's that kind of boring stuff (home phone #s) you'll want at your fingertips when the phone rings at 2 a.m.! #socialmedia
Use an outside resource for crisis plan. Why? B/c we're not afraid to ask you the tough Qs, make clients squirm. #socialmedia
Another feature of the crisis comms plan is to have already brainstormed crises and tough Qs so you've got msg points. #socialmedia
@dannybrown Plan needs org chart with roles and responsibilities, home/cell phone contacts, comms protocol for starters. #socialmedia
@Marc_Meyer Seriously! That's how you end up with Domino's learning by experience. But theirs becomes cautionary tale. #socialmedia
@chuckhemann It's an interesting time to be in social media role and try to make sr execs understand significance in crisis. #socialmedia
I studied crisis comms in train derailment that evac'd small town thru Christmas. Frequent, consistent comms was THE thing! #socialmedia
RT: @dannybrown: RT @amandagbeals: what level of crisis warrants a CEO step in for big biz? #socialmedia
@dannybrown @amandagbeals That's a great question! #socialmedia
@thebrandbuilder @dannybrown PR needs to train, coach CEO IN ADVANCE of crisis so he/she knows how to respond #socialmedia
@thebrandbuilder @dannybrown PR needs to train, coach CEO IN ADVANCE of crisis so he/she knows how to respond #socialmedia
@chuckhemann Agreed re: dedicated SM/community manager. #socialmedia
@wordymouth @drewschiller CEO definitely! PR can frequent updates, but CEO must talk for credibility, reassurance. #socialmedia
@dannybrown Yes, the internal staff right up to CEO all bring their baggage into crisis. Externals free of that. #socialmedia
Beauty of outside consultants is they bring confidence, context and experience internals lack. Plus no office politics. #socialmedia
Crisis Plan needs ownership of org's decision makers and predefine roles and responsibilities including in-house, external PR. #socialmedia
