Twitter forces me to focus on stuff that (hopefully) creates value. If it doesn't, it won't make for a good tweet . #socialmedia #sm32

Q2: Having a "recognizable personal brand" is like having a bunch of people in a room. Neither good, nor bad, simply potential. #socialmedia
Q1: Fame shouldn't be worth much. Twitter, itself, is famous, yet struggles to make cash. #socialmedia
@Marc_Meyer Yeah, but it's pretty transparent. Plus social media is ruthless in policing itself. You game, you pay a price. #socialmedia
Q3 I'd say be authentic, on point, and passionate. You can't game your way to the top in SEO. #socialmedia
Q2: I think you have to lead with the content. Partcptn is obj, not SEO. 7/8 ys ago, iPod was not even TM'd, n'mind searched. #socialmedia
I think #socialmedia is good for SEO, as long as you engage on their turf, not simply luring them to yours.

#socialmedia usage indicates an above average level of passion about a subject. Passionate may be difficult to measure, but it's vital.
@pchaney. Kool aid is good, and philosophically I bet we're on the same page. SoMe is a dial, not a switch. That's my point #socialmedia

@pchaney I think it is risky to say there is a unilateral need to be social. The burden should be on "why" not "why not," IMHO. #socialmedia
@Marc_Meyer My point is sites r created by people, 4 people - what "social" is about. Where u go from there is based on need. #socialmedia
Q1: It is a question of degrees. By their very nature (someone publishes, others read), sites are inherently social. #socialmedia
@Marc_Meyer No kidding, it's a much bigger risk to stall doing meaningful things in #socialmedia while you wait for guarantees.
Q2: for me, all of the case studies in the world didn't matter until I put the time in to figure out how #socialmedia would work for me.
Q2: Tweetdeck is now my primary lead generation dashboard. #socialmedia
@DannyBrown Vendors use fear all the time too - one of the overplayed emo buttons in the #socialmedia realm. Water's warm people!
@dannybrown I'd argue it's a very natural extension of something that made them successful in the first place! NOT SCARY. #socialmedia
I'd say 1 big challenge is prepping/preparing/BRACING for absolute transparency. To me, that's social media's greatest asset. #socialmedia
I don't think #socialmedia should have any impact on WHO responds, just HOW they respond.
@jasonbreed The notion of "PR" and "crisis" going together is dated. Best people to control damage are the ones who create it. #socialmedia
I think social media done right frees corporations to focus more on their business, and less on how they talk about it. #socialmedia
Wondering, does social media reduce the importance of sales/mktg people by shrinking the distance b/t product dev and consumer? #socialmedia
RT @scottclark #socialmedia means companies no longer have "conversational friction" to protect mediocre product/service from scrutiny
Off topic, I am finding a lot of great people to add to my Twitter friends via this event. #socialmedia
@SpecialDee Do biz have choice re: employees using SM w/customers? You either trust your peeps or not. Tools are ancillary, no? #socialmedia
Are we not moving to an era where all media is inherently social? How can it not be? #socialmedia
